Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we are most commonly asked before an engagement begins.

The questions we are most commonly asked before an engagement begins.

  • What size of organisation does Techdean typically work with?
We work with enterprise and mid-market organisations — typically those with complex, multi-entity, or multi-country SAP requirements. We are structured to be a credible alternative to tier-one consulting firms for organisations that want specialist SAP depth without the overhead of a large systems integrator.

We are equally comfortable working with organisations that are new to SAP and those with established landscapes that need transformation, extension, or improved support.
  • Do you work with organisations that are not yet on SAP?
Yes — and we welcome these conversations. Evaluating SAP for the first time is one of the most consequential technology decisions an organisation makes, and it deserves honest, independent advice. We will help you understand whether SAP is the right fit for your organisation, what the realistic commercial and implementation implications are, and what a credible programme would look like.

We will tell you clearly if SAP is not the right answer for your situation.
  • What SAP modules does Techdean specialise in?
Our core specialism is SAP Finance — Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), Asset Accounting (AA), and Profit Centre / Segment Reporting. This Finance-first depth is what makes us distinctive.

Beyond Finance, our practice covers a broad range of SAP modules: MM, SD, PP, PS, HCM, and the SAP S/4HANA platform. We also have capability in SAP BW/BI reporting, SAP Fiori, SAP Integration Suite, and SAP BTP.
  • Can Techdean support organisations that already have an SAP system in place?
Absolutely — and this is a large part of our practice. Many organisations come to us with an existing SAP landscape that is not performing as it should: under-configured, poorly documented, difficult to support, or no longer aligned to how the business operates.

We provide SAP health checks, optimisation engagements, S/4HANA migration planning, managed support transitions, and module extensions to organisations with live SAP environments.

Developing Powerful Identities.

  • How do engagements typically begin?
All engagements begin with a Discovery — a structured conversation (typically 30-45 minutes) where we understand your situation, objectives, and constraints. There is no charge for the initial discovery.

Following discovery, we produce a scoping document and commercial proposal. Only if that proposal is agreed do we mobilise a project team.
  • Do you offer fixed-price or time-and-materials engagements?
We offer both models, and sometimes a hybrid. Fixed-price works well for clearly scoped deliverables (a specific implementation phase, a training programme, a data migration). Time-and-materials is more appropriate for consulting, advisory, or support work where scope is variable.

We will always recommend the commercial model that best protects your interests — not the one that is most favourable to us.
  • How is project communication structured in a Techdean engagement?
We run a structured communication framework: weekly project status reports, bi-weekly working team calls, and monthly steering committee presentations. Issues are escalated proactively — before they become problems rather than after.

You will always know the current status of your project, what is on track, what is at risk, and what decisions you need to make.
  • Can Techdean work alongside our internal IT team or existing vendors?
Yes — and this is the norm for most of our engagements. We regularly operate within complex governance structures involving internal IT teams, existing SAP vendors, and third-party platform providers.

We adapt to your existing governance and collaboration frameworks rather than imposing our own. We are collaborative by design.
